Output Factory Server for InDesign User Guide

Workflow Settings > General

PRINT

Print Preset
Select InDesign's print preset to use for output.

Note: Print presets whose printer is set to PostScript File will only appear in PostScript workflows.
Note: If you print booklet with this option, the current booklet options of each document will be used.

Print booklet
Use InDesign's Print Booklet command for output.

Rename in printer queue
You'll be able to change the output document name it in the printer queue using the File Naming settings.

Send to printer as single pages
Each document page will appear as a single file in printer's queue.

PDF

PDF Export Preset
Choose InDesign's PDF export preset to use for output.

POSTSCRIPT

Print Preset
Select InDesign's print preset to use for output. Only print presets where printer is set to PostScript File will appear.

EPS, SWF, FLA, XFL

Format Export Options
Specify the current output format options. For export options details, please refer to InDesign documentation.

EPUB, HTML

Format Export Options
InDesign's own export options dialog will be open to define the workflow settings.

IMAGE

Image output options
Output Factory can export InDesign documents as TIFF, JPEG, PNG, GIF and BMP files. You can specify the desired color model, scale, resolution and image format options. For specific image format options details, please refer to InDesign and Photoshop documentation.

LINKOPTIMIZER

LinkOptimizer Settings
Click this button to open the embedded copy of LinkOptimizer Server. You can then manage your LinkOptimizer settings for the use from within Output Factory Server.
Pre-processing decisions
Specify options for LinkOptimizer to use before processing.

Existing images
Prior to processing, LinkOptimizer will check if the images with the final names already exist in the target location. If you decide not to overwrite existing images, if any found, LinkOptimizer will skip the InDesign file.

If files open in Photoshop
If any files are open in Photoshop before processing, LinkOptimizer has to close them first. You can chose to close them without saving or save before closing. If you choose the Save and close option, any new unsaved files open in Photoshop will require manual interaction to save them.

PAGES

All
All pages of each document will be exported.
Defined in the "Submit to OFS" plug-in
The page range defined in the "Submit to Output Factory Server" plug-in on user station will be used. See here for details.

Range
Specify the desired page range. You can specify non-consecutive page ranges using the same rules as in InDesign dialogs.

Use XMP Variable
Select an XMP variable to read page range from document's XMP metadata. See here for more info.

Export as single pages
Each document page (or spread, if checked in the selected InDesign preset's settings) will be exported as a single document.

Export as n pages
Every n pages (as per the number entered) will be exported as a single file.

Note: Print, PDF and PostScript only: To output as single spreads, or every n pages as spreads, check the Spreads option in the selected InDesign's print or PDF export preset.

Spreads
Export document reader spreads instead of single pages (applies to certain formats only).

OPTIONS

Update modified links
Modified links will be updated automatically before output.

Overwrite duplicates
Output files with identical names will be overwritten. If this option is unchecked, a number preceded by an underscore will be added to the end of duplicate file names.
Open files after processing with...
Output files will be opened with the selected application after processing.
Note: Output Factory Server will open output files once they're created. This may, under some conditions, disrupt further processing if opening files in another application interferes with processing of InDesign files from hot folders. In this case, we recommend to disable this option.
Note: This setting overrides any similar option in InDesign such as 'View PDF after exporting'.
Invalid page range
Specify the desired behavior for situations when the output page range specified in the workflow is invalid for a document in processing.
Skip files of lower InDesign versions
By way of example: if you're running InDesign CC, a document last saved from InDesign CS6 will be skipped, if this option is checked.
The files of higher versions will always be skipped (for example, Output Factory Server will not attempt to open an InDesign CC document in InDesign CS6).
