Output Factory Server for InDesign User Guide

Actions

Action is a sequence of workflows that lets you output InDesign files to multiple formats from a single hot folder. For example, you can create an action to save file as hi-res PDF, lo-res PDF and TIFF by adding appropriate workflows to the action steps. Then drop InDesign files to the action hot folder to output them to all three formats at once.

To manage actions, click the Actions button in the main window's toolbar.

Create new action
Use the [+] button underneath the Actions table.

Delete action
Use the [-] button underneath the Actions table.

Action's workflows
Double-click workflows in the Available Workflows table to add them to the action steps.
Drag workflows in the Action Steps table to reorder.
Use the [-] button to remove workflows from action steps.

LinkOptimizer workflows
Workflows that follow a LinkOptimizer workflow will operate on InDesign file processed with LinkOptimizer.
For example, say an action includes a LinkOptimizer workflow followed by a PDF workflow. InDesign file will be first processed by LinkOptimizer. Then the optimized InDesign file (NOT the original file) will be exported to PDF.

Hot Folder
Select the desired hot folder. When you put InDesign files into the hot folder, they will be automatically processed using the action's workflows as per their order in the Action Steps list.

The output files will be saved in output folders specified in respective workflows.

Share actions
The Output Factory actions are stored in this folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Zevrix/Output Factory Server/Actions
You can share actions by copying them (.ofac files) into the Actions folder of other users.
Note: The workflows specified in the action steps must be present on user's machine to run the action. Action doesn't contain any workflow info except for their names.
