LinkOptimizer is a workflow solution to automatically reduce the size of images linked to InDesign documents by eliminating excessive image data. LinkOptimizer will help you save valuable storage space, time and reduce production costs in various ways by reducing the size of images linked to your InDesign document:

• Saving valuable hard drive and backup storage space.
• Saving hours (and, for large projects, even days) of optimizing image size and resolution manually.
• Increasing speed of document printing and creating PDF files. (For high resolution, image rich projects you can reduce the output time from hours to minutes).
• Saving valuable time when transferring jobs to outside sources.
• Reducing job cost through faster processing by service providers.
• Speeding up your overall job turnaround.

How does LinkOptimizer work?

LinkOptimizer will automatically reduce the image resolution, scale and crop the images in Photoshop according to their dimensions in the InDesign document and the target resolution specified, and reimport them to InDesign at 100%. LinkOptimizer lets you backup original images linked to InDesign document before the processing, and you also have the option to overwrite originals. In addition, LinkOptimizer can automate the following operations:

• convert image colors to CMYK, RGB or Grayscale,
• apply sharpening filters during processing,
• flatten images or merge visible layers,
• delete hidden layers,
• run Photoshop Actions during processing.

LinkOptimizer vs LinkOptimizer Light

LinkOptimizer Light doesn't include the following advanced features of LinkOptimizer:

• Process images placed multiple times in InDesign document.
• Delete hidden layers during processing.
• Run Photoshop Actions during processing.
• Detailed Settings Summary in the LinkOptimizer window.
• run Photoshop Actions during processing.

No new features will be added to LinkOptimizer Light anymore (there will be bug fixes, if required). LinkOptimizer (full version) will continue to be updated with new advanced features.
