WHAT IT DOES

BatchOutput Server offloads printing and exporting to PDF and PostScript to a central system leaving operator workstations free from the output process.

With BatchOutput Server, production artists, prepress operators and designers simply submit (or copy) files to hotfolders that reside on the network. BatchOutput Server automatically outputs the files from its dedicated station using hotfolder settings, and will auto-activate fonts as well. Operator workstations will never again be tied up by the output process.

HOW IT WORKS

> Users choose the Submit to BatchOutput Server command instead of Print or Export (or just copy file in the Finder)

> The document with its fonts is copied to the selected BatchOutput Server hotfolders

> BatchOutput Server is installed on a dedicated station and runs absolutely unattended

> It automatically outputs files according to the hotfolder settings (e.g., hi-res PDF, laser print etc.)

> BatchOutput Server automatically activates the document fonts

> Users check the output status from their own stations with the supplied Monitor application - there’s no need to walk up to the Server station

EASY TO INSTALL

Installation of the BatchOutput Server Workflow is very simple:

> Put BatchOutput Server in the Applications folder on its dedicated station - no plug-ins required

> Run the Components installer on the user stations to install the required software automatically

Workflows

Workflow is a group of output settings assigned to BatchOutput Server hotfolders. You can create workflows for output to printer, PDF and PostScript.

Hotfolders

Hotfolders reside on server volumes available to other computers on the network. Users copy (or submit) InDesign files to hotfolders watched by BatchOutput Server. The InDesign files in hotfolders are processed automatically using the assigned workflow settings.

Export as Single Pages

BatchOutput Server can automatically export InDesign documents as single page PDF and PostScript files.

Automatic Error Handling

BatchOutput Server checks files for basic problems during processing and can skip files when missing links or fonts, invalid page range and other errors are detected.

E-mail Notifications

BatchOutput Server can send automatic e-mail notifications during processing. In each workflow you specify whether to send the notifications or not, and which E-mail Template to use. Notifications are triggered by user defined events, such as errors, font activation, process stages and others.

Automatic Font Activation

BatchOutput Server can automatically activate document fonts collected with the InDesign file into Hotfolder. Both Mac and PC fonts can be activated.

Variable File Names

BatchOutput Server offers unmatched capabilities to create variable output file names, which can include page number, date, script label and other components.

XMP Variables

BatchOutput Server has state of the art XML processing engine built-in. It allows users to base some output settings on InDesign XMP metadata. This powerful feature is enabled through XMP Variables, which define how specific XMP tags should be used.

Logs and History

BatchOutput Server logs all its activity into daily logs and lets instantly view the process history for each file.

Remote Monitoring

Users can monitor BatchOutput Server from other computers on the network using the BatchOutput Server Monitor application.
