Output Factory for InDesign User Guide

Actions

Action is a sequence of workflows that lets you output InDesign files using multiple workflows with just a click of a button. For example, you can create an action to save file as hi-res PDF, lo-res PDF and TIFF by adding appropriate workflows to the action steps.

Create new action
Use the [+] button underneath the Actions table.

Edit action
Double-click the action name to edit the action.

Action setup
Double-click workflows in the Available Workflows table to add them to the action steps.
Drag workflows in the Action Steps table to reorder.
Use the [-] button to remove workflows from action steps.

Run action
Select the desired action and click the play action button button. The action will execute the sequence of workflows as specified in action setup.
Page range: Specify the desired choice (All/Page range) in the Output Factory window before running the action. It doesn't matter which workflow is selected when you specify pages because this setting is workflow independent.

Stop action
Click the stop action button button to prevent the current action from executing the rest of its workflows.
Note: Action will stop only after the workflow being currently executed is finished.
Note: If you cancel processing through an alert message (for example, during preflight) when action is running, it will stop the current workflow, but not the entire action. The action will proceed to execute its next workflow. (This behavior will be fine tuned in future updates).

Share actions
The Output Factory actions are stored in this folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Zevrix/Output Factory/Actions
You can share actions by copying them (.ofac files) into the Actions folder of other users.
Note: The workflows specified in the action steps must be present on user's machine to run the action. Action doesn't contain any workflow info except for their names.
